Square ND Filters

I've done a quick search about this but can't seem to find much information. Has anyone used square/ rectangular ND filters (e.g. cokin/hitech) for video? Are there any DSLR video specific issues I should know about using them, (other than sharpness/color cast etc from cheap glass) that you also get in still photos?
 
Whats your budget? I have Cokin square filters which I use for photography but see them as too much of a hassle to use with video. I can't imagine they have any issues with video though.

I bought a LightCraftWorkshop variable ND filter for £100 which is the one to get for the money unless you have £300+ to spend.
 
£100 is pretty much my limit as I'm still new to video and learning the basics. I actually have an LCW Fader ND for my other lenses, but it won't fit the Tokina 11-16mm I recently bought and wouldn't be as effective on ultra wide angles from what I've read.
 
I ended up with a 4x4 matte box. It's unwieldy but does look terribly cool.

It seems there are very few mentions of Cokin level filters with video. People either go for things like the LCW or 4x4 filters.

I don't think there'll be any video specific issues with cheap filters but I spent the time to find used Formatt and Tiffen glass ones.

It seems a shame to put sub standard filters in front of an excellent lens.
