We have lapwings and curlews back up on the moors already, weeks ahead of previous years. It seems loads of birds and animals seem to be in shagging mode already as well.

Anyone else noticing this?

Lots of it going on down here, Ducks are starting to nest at the local reserves. Thank god spring has come early tho pal as it will make Uist abit more interesting in early April

Blue Tit had been checking out our garden nest box for past month so I anticipate nesting sometime soon? Blackbirds seem to be pairing off and Robins being chummy.

Also saw Lapwings in fields near RSPB Greylake in Somerset and wonder if they are all year round resident as I understand some populations can be? NB just a pity I am down here on business with no time to stop and appreciate such scenes.

Lapwings have been here for a couple of weeks, this is early for here especially as there is still snow about, no Curlews yet but they won't be far away, small birds are pairing up, it doesn't feel like spring that's for sure, bloody cold actually.

No daffodils up yet and then we get snow so not very spring like round here, one bonus is plenty of Barn owl sightings (y)

Great Crested Grebes on nests near here - no eggs but well constructed nest platform - seems a few weeks early.

Seems about normal where I am. The Magpies have just started collecting nesting material from my garden and the blue tits usually start collecting a couple of weeks later which puts them exactly the same as last year.
