Hi all,

Where is the best place to get a spigot similar to those on light stands that will screw onto a tripod quick release plate?

The reason I ask is because I have just got a new tripod and want to use my old one as a light stand/reflector stand.

Cheers,

Rob

One of these?

Three quid from Calumet for the Manfrotto version, mind you I'm sure I bought a whole extension arm from them (Calumet brand) with the spigot for about a quid more....

Cheers Flash,

Although I can't find the spigot pictured, only a manfrotto one that looks slightly different but seems to do the same thing.

If I still had access to a lathe I'd turn the b****r out!

Is this the extension arm you mean?

Yup that's the one, best to pop along if you have a Calumet near by and see what they have that will do the job

Unfortunately the nearest one is london.]

I am tempted by that extension arm now though, I could find plenty of uses for it. Is the spigot removable?

Yes, that's all I bought mine for, although now with some of the other things I've picked up along the way I could probably cobble all sorts of Heath Robinson contraptions up

Nice!

Thanks again Flash, on hand with the answer as always!

It's a male stud isn't it!?

Yes, so the first spigot is probably the correct one - I can't actually remember which type came with the extension arms, but it probably wasn't the one Rob needs, although I guess that depends on the configuration of his old tripod
