No
upto £300 on a lighting setup (portable).

Venturing into the strobist world and need a cheapish setup but obviously good enough for the job, I've already got a 430 EXll so any ideas on ebay sellers/equipment etc would be appreciated

TIA

Steve

£300 would get you a couple of Metz 45s...you just missed out on two from me for £50! Too late they are gone - but you could look for some more. They will work with any camera, and with your gun on the shoe, a couple of optical slaves an dyou are in business.

i would think you could get lights that work for less than your budget. If you want automation, or fancy goodies, then that will get you one flash.

No idea. I use a radio trigger from a UK company that isn't around anymore - but utterly reliable for the last 20 years! Even the batteries last for ages.

Depends on what sort of things you want - you could build a pretty good set up for £300, or blow it all on a 580EXII

Yes you can, you don't need to use the same branded flash gun to trigger both of them together and PT-04's are not as reliable as the Pocket wizards but they're definitely worth the price.

Buy the 580EXII and use it as the master unit to control the 430 off camera. Very nice combo IMHO. The 580 will give you the fill on axis with the camera then.

You will end up getting one anyway so why not get the best you can afford now and have fun experimenting with the ratio's and other controls remotely using the 580 without having to touch the other strobes...
