Speedlite 430ex or Speedlite 580ex

Is the 580ex really worth the extra money it is.
Or is the 430 sufficient
I would be using it for landscape, nightclub and parties.

If you can afford the 580 go for it, it's good! Have a look at the Sigma range (the EF-530 range) almost as good but not as expensive.

I have both and say if you can go the extra to the 580 then do. More functions and more powerful.

Are they good enough?
Looking on the net i can get a EF-530 for around 100
compared to almost 300 for the 580?

All it is, is I dont want to buy one and then later have to buy another one. And at the same time, I dont want to spend loads on a 580 when the sigma would have been fine! lol

i got the 580 for 2 reasons one Kerso didnt have the 430 and i needed it ASAP so went for that one.
its a great flash and i am happy i got it over the 430

The 580ex has the slave trigger so if you ever want some more flash's, its the one you'll need.

Since you have made your mind up already, this post will probably be irrelevant.

If you're planning on getting more flash's in the future, it's a good idea of thinking about a 580EX2 as you can use it as a master and the 430ex/2 as slaves. So staying with canon flash guns are a good idea.

It's not really worth going 2nd hand, as the prices are very similar 2nd hand and new.
