Hi,
I have a D7000 with 16-85mm.
Its just a family wedding.
I had the SB600 and the batts leaked in it.( Hardly used; is worth repairing?)
I have the SB 26 used previously on my F5 but will work in Auto only with D7000.
I would prefer to do most of my photography 'bounce'.
Possibly will be upgrading to a D800 in a couple of years time.
Now; uncertain between SB600,700 or 900 or will the SB26 do the job??
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mo. I have a pair of Meike MK910 flashes which are clones of the Nikon SB910's. They don't seem to pack as much power as their Nikon counterparts, but they're less than a third of the price. Mine were £76 from eBay and have worked flawlessly. I have used them to cover a wedding and many boxing events.

Repair your sppedlight. Its niot hard, but may take a little time.

Get some swabs and soke them in malt vinegar. Use these to remove all the crud from the leakage. Thos may take you an hour our so, but does work.
Then use water to swab (damp swap not dripping) the remaining vinegar away.
At this stage you will have contcts that work, but maybe discoloured If this is an isssue polish them back with and emery bord.

Let everything dry well. Insert batteries and away you go

Recommend trying to clean the corrosion caused by the leakage using the method described above. I've rescued a number of devices with this technique (digital clocks etc)

For things that aren't used regularly its a good idea to take the batteries out and keep them in a cheap battery holder, so if they do leak, the leakage is mostly contained and doesn't damage anything.

Thx to all replies; I have already scraped off most of the corrosion just with a screwdriver. I will give it a go with the malt vinegar and see how I go; however my feeling is that the corrosion is probably leaked into the circuits!! I have also learnt {google) that the SB600 suffers from batt leakage. My (Duracell) ones were hardly used and it still happened. They went straight in the bin (as you would)-----big mistake; because I also learnt that Duracell do compensate for this leakage. Anyway, will let you know how I get on after the vinegar wash. Cheers.

Yes, did the Vinegar soak/dab with cotton bud (ear} for just a couple of minutes. Let it dry for a few hours and works as new again!!
Thanks to all responses again.
