Christmas Day at ours was very busy (like most I guess) small house many people small cooker and lots to cook.
Anyways my better half wanted to get a family photo of us all as you do plus parents are getter older and unfortunatly we lost one earlier in the year :-(
I took this photo on a tripod self timer with speedlight on top bounced backwards and up to cieling/wall junction. I had the stoffen on too.
Settings were manual.
f7.1 for the bigger depth of field.
1/100
iso 800
Allthough I didnt check I am positive there would be no ambient in the photo.
Firstly I would like to know if I bounced the flash correctly or if there were a better way, given the flash was on camera I could have done this better? How would some of you people who know what they are doing taken it ?
I have posted the photo below could you also tell me if the exsposure ok. Best I could do for location and trying to get it done quick. If you could see the mess out of frame eg: 2 tables on top of each other 8 chairs booze glasses wrapping papper you know the scene i'm sure :-)

Hope you can help.

Looks fine to me. I like the fact the dog is in a Christmas outfit as well.

Most people, including me, would be chuffed to bits to be able to shoot a picture like that. The lighting is even and the depth of field is just right - to be able to shoot that picture on a busy and hectic Christmas day is almost like performing a miracle - well done, hope you had a celebratory glass or four of something good

Looks ok to me for what you have :)

Thats very kind of you to say so. You just Made my day. I honestly was not sure wether it looked to bright/dark or just not good at all.
So many thanks for that, it gives me the confidence to get the camera out more in front of people.

As above, with what you had you did a good job, the colour cast comes from the wall you bounced off, you can't expect white light off a cream wall.

Thanks Phil. I think I quite like it with the slight cast as it looks like there was more ambient light in the image which is preferable I think.
