HAHAHAHAHA "cough" HAHAHAHAHA

Way to go...

now there's a plan if ever I heard one...

I've been caught a few times.... twice in one day in fact. On M74 (J16) and then 13 minutes later on the M6 at Metal Bridge, Carlisle!!!

Put me to 12 points and got a 6 month ban!!!

I love these things :(

Horrible things. If they were used correctly - ie to slow down traffic at accident blackspots - then I'd have little problem with them, but they're now simply money making devices in most situations.

All hail the four lads from Canberra! :notworthy:

Sorry mate but you have heard it a hundred times before..

Slow down.

I drive a HGV for a living and can only beat the sytem by keeping to the speed limit.:rules:

PS: I am not in favour of these things and loathe them to be honest but the only way of beating them is to keep the speed down..

or join the estimated 1-2 million un-registered cars that will never get caught.

I know you are right. :-)

the thing that annoys me about speed cameras and unmanned mobile ones (i dont have a problem with handheld speed guns operated by officers) is that there is no disgression, ocasionally you'll just get a warning for being a little over the speed limit from a traffic cop, with a camera your just another statistic, theres absolutely no disgression on the part of the speed camera and i hate that, its the same problem with traffic wardens, its just an automated process.

amazingly ive kept my license clean for nearly 6years which considering that i drive at 90mph on the motorway and pretty fast everywhere else i think thats quiite amazing.

speed cameras are only supposed to be positioned on black spots but thats rubbish, they put them everywhere they think they will make money from them. ive heard they are trying to abolish this "rule" that they clearly dont stick to anyway

"We were killing more people on the roads in 1926 than today even though we now have thirty times more vehicles on the road. Great Britain has the safest roads in the world bar none. Portugal for example, has the worst record in Europe with 3 times the fatality rate of Great Britain, and the USA is four times worse than us."

I have a friend who operates a haulage firm and challenges every speeding claim against his drivers (at great cost it must be said) and has found that often the police have prepared their case very pooorly and can get the drivers of on "technicalities". He reckons he has 75% success rate!

I have heard of this before Gary but the fact remains his drivers were speeding. ;)

Good luck on anyone disposing of the speeding fine but would you agree if one of your family members were injured/killed by a speeding motorist.:shake:

Jeebus I sound like a right old fart going on like this.

I honestly despise speed cameras myself but other than risking a speeding fine chasing around all day why take the chance, I get paid by the hour so another hour on my timesheet only gets me extra money at the end of the week..

Extra money = More lenses..

Guys reading this thread I'm convinced you have all relocated to S.A.

Please PM me your new addresses so I can come and meet you!!:D :D :D

I've only been caught once and that was driving home from work late at night after a 14hr day. It was a fixed camera that I drive past every day so I guess if I was that tired to forget it was there then I deserve the points :nono:

I'm all for them if they're in the right place. Yes put them around schools and accident black spots, but when I see them sat behind a 40 sign, early on a Sunday morning in a place where there's never many pedestrians and only one or two cars, it makes me wonder what the point is

Because idiots who want to prove their driving skills normally use these "quiet" spots to do so...add an unsuspecting pedestrian or another stupid/ careless driver who jumps a stop sign BECAUSE THIS IS A QUIET SPOT ON A QUIET SUNDAY MORNING and you have yet another road fatality statistic....

I have photographed dozens of them:'(

I have to agree with the people who say that the only way to not get caught speeding is to not speed in the first place - its not big and its not clever.

We're getting four speed cameras put on the road where we live - its a 40mph road and we've lived there for three years. Since we've lived there along this stretch of road there has been six or seven accidents - one of them including three fatalities. We had a car come off the road and take out the wall between us and next door and sent pieces of it flying through the passenger door of the car parked three doors up - if one of the neighbours had been outside when this happened they would have been killed.

I can't stand people who sit behind me and drive up my ass, they soon learn that if they tailgate me I slow down and most of them back off - some of them just follow nose to tail though and if something does happen to pull out in front of me or a kid runs out and I have to stop, its going to be messy.

Oh yes...

Could tell you what I do with these types but it takes some careful practise and there is always that small element of risk...:naughty:

Very effective mostly...

I have heard of this before Gary but the fact remains his drivers were speeding. ;)

We live at the end of a 100mile road (The famous A9) where there is virtually no dual carriageway. Even the bobbies admit to letting artics go as to stop them for "speeding" (as you know 40 is tops) will lead to massive hold ups.

Not what you were referring to I know but speed is a single factor when many need to be decided before a "crime" really takes place. Don't get me wrong I have no place for the guy doing 90 and note that most professional drivers help you get past rather than hold you up.

It's just such a big complicated story that a single number can never really represent it properly.

When you talk about 40 I suppose it is miles and not km/ hour right?
