So it's my turn to be presented with some results that I'm struggling to find the reason for.....maybe you guys can help throw some ideas forward.

Roll of Rollei Superpan 200 respooled onto a 620 spool thenn loaded into a Folding Six 20 Brownie last October whilst in London.

Shot 5 frames there all of which have come out like this:

The camera has sat idle since my return home until I finished the roll last week, the last 3 frames have come out fine like this:

So what has happened to the emulsion of the first five frames to cause all the white blotchiness ??

Edit: Just to add I have experienced blotchiness ( more greyish than white) on old exposed films that I have picked up over the years and developed but this Superpan was fresh / stored correctly etc and besides why would half the film be ok and the other half be stuffed?

Did you shoot 5 and then just leave it for a while before shooting the rest ?

I had some pan f come out like that once, I shot half the roll in my Bronica and then didn't shoot the rest for 4 or 5 months, but I did develop the roll as soon as I'd finished it.

The rational at the time was, that the the first half had been left too long exposed but undeveloped in the camera and had gone cheesy, whereas the second half was shot and developed promptly.
I've done similar things since but its not happened again so I dunno.

Yes exactly that.....thé first 5 frames were shot on the sale day that the film was loaded in oct 2014 then the camera sat unused until last week when the last 3 frames were finished off in the sale day!

Quite strange behaviour of the film and i have no idea what causes it to happen as i have left other films much longer than 5 months without the emulsion curdling!

It must be something to do with the film being exposed and then left, there was talk about backing paper chemicals reacting with the exposed portion of film over a period of time but there was no certainty about it.
Its only ever happened once so in my mind it remains......unexplained.........duh...duh...derrr
