So there is a small bit of dirt in my stock 55mm lens.

Does not show up in photos I take but I see it in the eyepiece.

I know that it is in the lens as I have taken it off and had a look.

What can I do about it?
Should I do anything?

Thanks!

go out and take photos!

nothing you can do about it, all lenses have dust in them - if you really want an eye opener have a look through the lens with a bright torch

If you can see it through the viewfinder it is either on the focusing screen or on the mirror, just use a rocket blower to dislodge it.

You will not see any dust that is in the lens when looking through the viewfinder, neither will lens dust appear on any images.

Take a look at THIS

Then you can start a thread with "Speck of dust on my sensor".

Just ignore it if it is not on your pictures.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

I have used a rocket blower for years to remove the dust and bits from the mirror, focus screen and AF sensors, never had a problem with dusty sensors, albeit my last two camera bodies did have built in sensor cleaning.

I understand your objection to the use of rocket blowers. I often think that a small vacuum would be the ideal solution to the problem of dust in the mirror box.
