Hi everyone from a very late starter
Here is my first effort for the 52 week challenge. I hadn't intended joining until next week but when I saw these leaves I though they would fit the theme.

I am looking forward to learning lots and getting to know you all - c & c very welcome.

   Hi Sparrow and a big welcome to the 52.

I didn't start until week 27 last year, but even the 6 months was a huge learning curve. I really hope that you get as much out of it as I did

And don't be put off by not having many comments so far. Most of us don't look at others' until our shots are in - that's often late on a Sunday . . . and there are still so many threads that it takes a few days to get round them.

Those leaves certainly look very grungey. I'm having difficulty seeing whether they're wet and rotten or just shrivelled out by the sun.

I really like the colour tones in this one, and the DoF that you've used isolated the leaves very effectively from the background.
From a composition perspective though, it's not quite working for me. The leaves look a bit clumped up and very central in the frame. I think this would have benefited from some more space around the leaves and maybe the inclusion of the branch that they were hanging on to give some context.

Welcome to the 52 Sparrow:thumbs:
I like your grunge image, particularly the colour tones in the leaves.
I agree with Sarah's comments above, perhaps some of the branch/twig which the leaves are attached to in the image would put things in context.
A good start to your 52, well done. Iain

:wave:Thanks Sarah and Ian for your welcome and comments.

I think the leaves are frost damaged Sarah and are rotten rather than wet.

With regards to composition - I see what you both mean about benefiting from more space around the leaves and will try and have another go at taking the shot :)

Welcome to the 52s! You have made a good start. The second version looks more grungy to me but I actually prefer the first one as an image simply because it wasn't obvious to me at first what it was and I like close-ups that make me look twice. It has a more abstract feel and I like the limited colour range.

Thanks Jenny and Tracer for your welcome and comments.

Looking at the shots again I can't help thinking they aren't the most inviting photographs to start my 52 weeks with:lol:

Here is my contribution for week 26 - 'Beginnings'
I should have waited for this weeks theme - very appropriate for starting the 52 week challenge
