Yes
Since my recent heavy investment in a couple of IS lenses, I have noticed a marked reduction in battery life.

I am therefore in the market for a backup for the 1Ds, and wondered if anyone had used some of the "non Canon" batteries, and if so, where is the best place to buy?-or are you best staying with the OEM product.

Ideally I'd like a greater capacity for cold weather work.

I got one from this guy on ebay, seems pretty good, about 3000 shots from a non IS lens. The one's he's selling now look slightly different to the one I got so don't know if the quality has changed.

I've had these, and the BP111s for my 20D from the 7 day shop. Extremely reasonable, and they work well too.

I did buy a couple pf cheapies from Pixmania, and neither worked.

Thanks, will have a look on their sites tomorrow.

Went for 7dayshop, Delkin quoted me £49, Global batteries £30, and I bought 2 from 7day for £22.58 each!- so lets hope they are ok.

Will report if not.

They are very good last longer than Canon OEM batteries, (did you mean both for £22.58)

No, £22.58 was price each, sorry if that wasn't clear. But I also bought 2 batteries for my 400D for 9 quid the pair!

Thant's strange as they were £11.59 each a few months ago.............., maybe they had a a massive price rise.

Just got the batteries and NEITHER WORKS terminals are a fraction shortand although they charge, they won't work in the camera. And, sorry mho, you are quite right, £11.29 each, my mistake.

Anyone else had the same problem?

George

I bought one last Christmas and have had no problems at all.

Yes I bought one for the 1Ds and it works a treat. £11.59 well spent here.

I bought 2 on ebay last year for my 1Ds, both were fine but can't for the life of me remember who I bought them from.
Hopefully there'll be some cheap MkIII batteries appearing before long... £100 is not on, at least the 1Ds batteries are massive and heavy, so there seems some perceived value in them ;)

I think it may be a bad batch as both are identically flawed. E mailed them and we'll see what their returns policy is like!!

I've just received two batteries from 7 day shop this morning, an NPE£ for my 1D mkIIN, and 2 BP 511s for the 20D battery grip. Alll charged up within spec, and all work perfectly.

£20.30 the lot, posted.

I've NEVER had problems with anything from this source.

tried everything and not working, bit of a b as I'm off to Le Mans, but they have one terminal which is more recessed than the original Canon one, and I think that is the problem. I can get one of the batteries to make contact if I push it in really hard, but of course that is useless. No info yet from 7 day, so I think I'll return them anyway. I actually checked, and the terminals are about 3mm further in to the casing, so something is wrong. Sorry Doug, but there is always a first time!! The 400D ones are fine, however.
