Hi guys and girls

I am planning on going to Southport Airshow next weekend, i havn't been for a long long time.

Can anyone advise, will i be able to easily get away with using a tripod whilst i am there for the flying displays, or is it likely to be int he way?

Thanks in advance!

:)

Unless you have a gimble head a tripod even a monopod is a little restrictive, last year was the first time I hand held the 300mm f/2.8 for a day, I had the monopod with me but it was a pain to use.

So does thst mean ill be ok with a tripod?
Ill be using a 150-500 which i struggle hand held to get it as sharp as id like. My alternative is 70-200 but that may leave me short

Depends where you were thinking of standing. If you stand by the barriers on the beach, it'll be in the way and will constantly be getting knocked, ditto if you stand on the promenade. If you really want to use one, park on the beach and use it next to your car would be my advice.

Probably best idea if you want to use your tripod.
