Hello,
I'm not sure where would be the best to post this query, as it's a general question about sourcing a replacement for a rechargeable battery that is used in many non-photographic applications. However, it's for my Elinchrom Ranger Speed flash equipment so I thought I'd try here first as there's a large number of knowledgeable and very helpful people who post here - thank you.
The original battery is around 6 years old, so getting on a bit, and it let me down for the very first time yesterday (it's never run out of power on a shoot before).
My options are:
- Buy a new battery unit and relegate my current one to spare = £195 (currently out of stock).
- Get the existing battery unit re-celled by TheFlashCentre = £120 (+ additional mileage to shop, or postage).
- Or, replace the SLA battery used by Elinchrom and fit it myself (a simple 5 minute job) = around £30 (probably + VAT & postage).
So, ideally I need a B.B Battery BP12-12 sealed lead acid battery, or a good, reliable, reputable, dependable direct replacement version.
Can anyone recommend a good source for these SLA type of batteries in the UK?
Any brands of battery to look for, or avoid?
Is there a better place to ask this question?
My Google-foo is letting me down, so far I've only found this one, no idea if it's good, bad or indifferent.
Many thanks for making it all the way through this diatribe, and also many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Cheers!
