As you know nothing is new, my dad was a professional photographer from the 40's the the early 80's. He had a studio in north harrow called Harrow commercial studios and I remember when he was doing weddings he used a rollor flex and a nikon. As you know the rollor flex must be looked down into the top screen so the nikon was always in the way. Dad came up with this...

I knew this was in existance when i first saw the R strap but didnt have the evidence but now i have come across parts of it in the loft. This is the original camera he used, the Nikkormat FT2.

looks like he beat the timeline and came up with a useful gadget before it was widely known

Nice idea. Any idea how he kept the tripod mount from working loose? I would try that if not for the fact that any tripod/quick release I've ever had bar one worked loose constantly and needed tightening all the time, particularly if shooting portrait.

heres a pic, had a locking nut and the angle bracket with a brass washer so the angle bracket swiveled so it was less lickely for anything to come loose. I am now useing this system and have had no problems what so ever.
