Yes
I have a Sigma 85mm 1.4 which is fantastic for those lush portraits. But I need an ‘everyday’ 1.4. Looking at a used Zeiss 35mm 1.4. Are they a good lens in 2021? I have researched the issues these can have with soft edges but to be honest I doubt i would notice. I just love 1.4. Not interested in 1.8. Thoughts?:)

I should of mentioned cost. Yes the GM is a better lens but it also is a very expensive lens, even used.I would love one! The Zeiss just seems a tad more in my budget. Do you like the Zeiss by the way?

I do, it's a perfectly fine lens. I have plenty of samples. I guess a photo or 2 is better than a thousand words.

How about the Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art? One of my favourite lenses of all time and very reasonably priced.

‘Perfectly fine lens’ You make it sound so average as a lens! But your photos speak rather differently....

I came from both the Canon 35L mk1 & 2, the latter being my all time favourite 35mm, I like that more than the Zeiss. You can say I’m still missing it so hence my less than enthused way I come across. It’s fine but I do have my favourites. I mean I could have kept the Canon and adapted it but it was deprecating money, the MC-11 made it a really long set up for a 35mm.

So, the Zeiss is perfectly fine. I’ve had it for 3 years and if it weren’t for the GM, I’d keep it for another 3 no hesitations.
