Sony RX1R-II real world review

Nice, had an original RX1 and it did take nice photos but lack of viewfinder and fiddliness of the controls was ultimately a turn off.

I do tire of the line that this camera is too expensive.

Maybe people think that small cameras should be cheap and forget that what you're getting is a FF camera with a very nice lens which will fit in a winter coat pocket or a very small camera bag in the summer.

From a copywriting point of view you have mixed styles between semi-formal and colloquial and used quite a diverse and advanced vocabulary, for me it ruins the flow a bit as I can't decide if it's a formal review or a commentary of use (by someone who does cryptic crosswords). Punctuation is a bit iffy, there is no need for either of the semi-colons and there are too many exclamation marks (c.f. writing styles).

Other than that I quite liked it, product images (dust aside) support the story and some of the sample images are very nice too.

Have to say that the camera isn't for me though, a fixed lens camera (FF or not) at such a high price is a statement of excess and if I were to do that I'd be looking at a Leica :)

edit: also, I know you have an 'about you' page but given it's a user review it would be helpful to set a bit of context around your usual usage at the start, this will help people to understand what angle you are looking at this camera from.

I do hope you're joking as if not this is badge snobbery at its worst.

Outspoken and secure in myself as I am I really couldn't give a flying about badges or what other people think of my purchases and I can definitely say without a hint of inverse snobbery that I'd take the Sony over a Leica every time... unless I wanted a fixed lens camera and preferred the 28mm FoV and in that case a Leica makes sense as they make one but not because of the badge but because of what it is, a 28mm fixed lens quality camera.

I did say IF. And it may be badge snobbery but I would also argue that NEEDING a FF compact camera is camera snobbery so if you're in for a penny...

Besides, I prefer 28 to 35mm.

edit: and bear in mind I sold all my FF kit in favour of m4/3 so that may affect my stance on FF.

I'd love an RX1r (1 or 2) if the RX100 is anything to go by! I'd take it over pretty much any Leica in an instant.
