I have ordered the Sony Alpha 200, I also ordered the vertical grip for it. It has not yet come in.

Any here ever used this camera and can give me some info from someone that has used it?

have not tried the A200,I have the A100 and just purchased the A350.Pretty straight forward to use and I'm quite pleased with the results.New to this game so maybe somone-one else will give you a rundown on it,enjoy

K thank you.

I picked the sony alpha because i am use to my Minolta Maxxum 50 and the sonys have almost the same set up and feel as my minolta.

Well the A200 isn't a significant jump up from my A100 so I'll be bypassing it and maybe getting the A700 - or hold out for the next Alpha later in the summer/autumn. Although that one may be a similar price to the Nikon D3 so it may be out of my league at the moment so I may plump for the A700.

The reviews for the A200 that you have seem rather favourable for a camera of that calibre though. At least there are some decent lenses out there now for the Sony so with the right lens you should be able to get some great pictures.

Cant give you a hands on review, but my Dad has just bought one to replace his A100. He reckons it is well worth the upgrade and a considerable improvement. Pictures are sharper and seem more detailed, lcd screen is bigger, it has a colour histogram, higher iso, more sensitive and quieter shutter release and much faster focussing. He reckons the battery is longer lasting too.
You will need to check the default sharpening, his was set at -3!
Another plus is that there is a battery grip available for it.
If you need to know anything more specific, ask away and I will have a word with my Dad, but he is very impressed with it.
