Sony A77II with Sony 300mm 2.8 G lens (Mk I)

Hi. I have a friend that is looking to purchase a Sony 300mm 2.8 mk I lens to go on his A77II. He has tried the lens and there seems to be a focus hunting issue. His camera definitely works with his own lenses and the lens in question works on another model Sony camera. Could this be a compatibility issue or should it work no problems at all?

Hoping someone can answer me fairly quickly.

hi just seen this question i and my son have used the minolta 300.28 mk1 for a while on a77 mk2s and have no issues at all, we use all the minolta primes and some hunt a bit depending on camera set up ie tracking speed and other settings seem to cause the odd issue, just play around with settings and i think all will be good and the results are well worth the effort
