I have found it infuriating that my A6600 can change settings so readily. Once set up, if you even lightly brush against the control Wheel, you may get a very different setting. You can also touch the screen with your nose if you use the viewfinder. In the last few days I lost several shots because the shutter was set to take 3 images 2 stops apart but this canceled itself. The next day it was on Auto ISO which then changed to ISO 32000. Never had such issue on my Canon DSLR. Does any Sony owner have similar issues and have you found a solution.

I turned the touchscreen off because of the nose issue.

The control wheel issue is one of the main reasons I would swop to the A6700 if I had the luxury of spare funds. Not having a front wheel is annoying, so you have to have the settings on the control wheel - which can, as you say, result in unwanted changes. The front wheel would probably do away with that, as you can leave the control wheel for the basic moving the focus points and so on.

Honestly the A6700 is better but not perfect. Got into the habit of just turning off between each shot.

I haven't had an A6xxx body but I've seen similar issues with some of the cameras I've had and I got around them as follows.

The nose issue. I never use touch screens so turning them off doesn't bother me. I always turn it off.

The back wheel being easy to jog issue. I like two near top of camera controls or at least one control which toggles. I don't like the back wheel because they can be way too easy to jog. If the wheel can be disabled without disabling a critical use I'd disable it but if not I'm afraid my fix would be to sell the camera and buy something else. This might seem extreme but I think this is one issue which can be extremely annoying and can take away all enjoyment.

Sell it. Buy something else.

Good luck David.

Many thanks for the replies. I did turn off the touch screen when I first bought the camera but this does not fully disable it. I normally use the Wide focussing mode which is fine but, if through unintentionally touching the control wheel, I know the camera can be knocked into a different focussing mode and the focus point is where you touch the screen. Being careful, this does not happen that often now but these other changes of mode/settings do. I am unlikely to replace this camera yet as I otherwise can get some good shots with it. I have a Canon EOS 5D mkIV which does not have any of these disadvantages but is too heavy so now only used for studio work. It is possible that at some future date I may find a camera without these problems which is very light and IQ as high as the 5D4.

I think there are two different touchscreen on/off things in the menu, as I seem to recall this with me. You have to turn the focusing touch-screen off, and the menu touchscreen off (I think). Anyway, whatever it was I did worked, as I have never had a touchscreen issue since.

IQ probably wont be an issue but the other things could be.

Good luck going forward.
