Hi all.

My Sony A580 display button has started to fail - now have to press it really hard to get it to function. Anyone any idea if this is likely to be economic to get repaired, or if it can be replaced by myself? Really like the camera and don't want to have to get a new one.

Cheers, Burry

I suspect that Sony at Pencoed would replace it under their fixed price scheme (so probably ~£125) which is cheaper than even a s/h A580 sells for.
An independent repair shop maybe cheaper.

could you remap the button to another one u hardly use? like ael for example

I'd give Sony a call. Any time I've needed anything repairing on my cameras, they've always replaced items and fixed them for the £100.00 fixed charge - no matter what the problems have been.

I dropped a A700 and literally everything stopped working... Sony charged the fixed price - they can't have made a penny on it - great, great service!

Thanks, everyone for the replies. Don't think remapping the button is possible on my camera - will give Sony a call. I think I can guarantee it would never work again if I tried to fiddle with it. Good to hear positive things about Sony service.
