Hi all

Just wanted to shout out loud - I think I have at last fixed the back-focussing issue on my A580. Finally plucked up the courage to have a go at the "3 screws on the bottom" solution to adjust the auto focus sensor. The back focussing on my 50mm 1.8 has been really bugging me (thought it was poor technique for a while when shooting wide open). Adjusted the screws and now perfect.
Now have to check my other lenses to make sure they are still focussing ok - kit 18-55 and 55-200; neither particularly fast and so doubt I will see a difference. Fingers crossed!

This 50mm lens was always perfect on my A230 and was gutted it was worse on the A580.

Problem is, your other lenses will be slightly out as youre adjusting for all lenses, not just one when using this method.

Yes, I agree. I am pretty new at all this and could well be wrong, but my hope is that all the lenses were back-focussing the same and that I just didn't notice as the other lenses tend to have much greater depths of field (just the standard kit lenses). I didn't really see a problem on the 50mm if I stopped it down - just wide open when the DoF is razor thin.

Anyway - will test the others after work tonight and see how they look - fingers crossed. I did mark the position of the screws if I need to put them back to how they were. I guess if I can't get all the lenses focussing correctly then I will need to send body + lenses to sony for proper calibration - anyone any ideas how much they charge?

The 50mm worked great on my A230 so I assume it works fine, but in reality, I suspect the focus - relationship between lens and body is rather more complicated.
