Yes
I am after a flash gun for my Sony a350.

Only got £100 budget. I have seen the £35 ones on eBay. I am assuming these are no good?

What do you recommend I get for £100 or under?

I need it by saturday as i have got a wedding.

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll get that one then.

If you could scrape together enough for a Sony flash, you wouldn't regret it. Sony flashes work off-camera, triggered by the pop-up, with TTL and HSS. A Jessops flash won't do any of that.

the jessops flash works off-camera, using the pop up flash to fire it. i can't remember if it is manual only or with TTL though.

So is the jessops one no good then?

What does it mean if ttl and HSS doesn't work?

I am not a pro, just do photography as hobby. I do friends and family weddings, parties and christenings etc. Aswel as a lot of motorsport and a bit of everything else...

I wanted a flash gun as I feel the on board flash isn't very good when doing "in church" shots and also when your at parties with limited lights.

Well I bought the jessops one and I am not happy with it.

It took a long time to recharge the flash and the actual results with the flash was very poor.

Will be sending it back for full refund.

Will look into getting another one.

Jessops one is fine if you know how to use it. Unless you bounce it generally looks terrible. True of most flashes though. OCF works fine with wireless. HSS isn't available.

Check your settings. When I was playing around with flash most of the time to get decent results I'd have about -0.7 flash compensation and often use slow sync flash to balance the ambient light better so it wasn't obviously a flash photo.

Re-charge time is ok with decent batteries. Not tried it with re-chargeables as they're often too low a voltage.

Make sure the camera is set to TTL and not ADI as ADI often gives inconsistent results. TTL is much better.

Can you post examples??

If the Nissin one does HSS and has a zoom & bounce head then I'll be checking them out too as the Jessops is ok for basic stuff but not for anything fancy :)

My Jessops 360 always seems to underexpose by about 1/3 of a stop in TTL mode. It's easily compensated for, of course.
