Hi

I have just purchase a Sony A200 of here and it comes with the 18-70mm lens kit as statndard which of course is good but to a point.

I am very interested in motorsport photography an obviously need a lens to do this.

I understand the A200 is an entry level Dslr but I wonder if anyone could advise a lens to work well with this camera.

Many Thanks
Scott

id prob go for the sony 70-300 its on offer at jessops for £179.99 at the moment, the sigmas ok, but acks sharpness.

Presumably you mean the 75-300, the 70-300 is considerably more expensive.

Hi Thanks for the replys the info is really useful. I have also found this one
Tamron 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di AF Macro 1:2 Lens
Does anybody know where this sits in the mix.

Many Thanks

The tamron is reckoned to be perhaps a tad sharper than the Sony and sigma but probably not a lot in it. The minolta 100-300 apo gets good reviews but all of these are going to need good light as they are not the fastest lenses and the a200 is not brilliant at high ISO but with the latest versions of acr noise is handled better

I've got a Sony A200 and use the tamron 70-300 as my main telephoto lens  its not a bad lens but it does suffer from bad purple fringing in some situations
