Somthing for the Mrs

Hi

I'm Looking for some advice on a compact camera for my wife. Having used canon in the past, and myself using a 30D, we're gonna stick with them.

So, If any of you have advice, Expert or otherwise on what a girl wants I'm open to suggestions. (so is she I've been led to believe)

Wellll - this particular "girl" fancies a 5D and a 500mm

Why not go for a dSLR then you can share lenses as her enthusiasm for photography increases

Wouldn't that be nice. Tried that route but she wants something small.

She can stuff in her handbag, pull it out and shoot it.

So did I - I ended up getting a bigger handbag and stuffing it full of the padding from my camera bag so I could still use it

if she is after a compact you cant beet the canon ixus imo i live mine although it never gets much use these days, the down side to it is if she gets into photography then she will out grow the ixus quickly.

So the powershot G9 is another suggestion i dont have one (but its what this girl wants) my mate does and he says it rocks for when hes not got his DSLR. Not so easy to grow out of but still compact and easy to use.

If it were for me I'd go for the G9.

She likes the look of the powershot SX100 IS.
Anyone know of its performance?

Canon A720is gets very good reviews. I had the A710is, its small enough to put in a pocket ( or small handbag, apparently) and delivers fantastic results.
