The Optech is very good I use them and they also do one that incorporates a hot shoe flash for a couple of quid more. They come as a pack of two usualy for the price so probably the cheapest going apart from a supermaket plastic bag and elastic bands.

Half of a leg from an old pair of waterproof trousers! The foot end is elasticated, so that goes around the lens end, the other end has been slit slightly to get my hand in. Works a treat, cost nowt!

Used to use a Tesco bag when in work. Put the lens attached to camera in first, then put the lens hood on, get some black tape and stick tape around the join of lens hood and lens, this holds bag in place, another bit of tape to stick the bag to the top of the prism just over the hot shoe mount. Job done apart from making the hole for the lens, with a small coin just run this around the edge of the filter on the front of the lens lightly, and the plastic bag bit will fall out.

Not the best I know, but when the company wouldn't buy rain protectors this is all we had.

I have been looking at the optech rainsleeves for myself and found them on ebay here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-x-OP-TECH-R...&itu=UCC&otn=6&ps=63&clkid=766315687858093808

The added advantage to these imo is you can see the top screen and back screen along with all the control's on the camera without getting the camera wet. It also has a hole for the viewfinder to fit through, you therefore do not need the back of the cover open to be able to see through the viewfinder as in the images of the other types.

I got caught out on holiday recently when it was pouring with rain, but I still wanted to use the camera. I pinched a clear plastic shower cap from the hotel bathroom...and it worked perfectly!! The elasticated bit fitted reasonably well round the lens barrel and the cap kept the body dry. As it was a clear cap, I could still see through the viewfinder.

Aquatech rain shield - can not imagine anything better. used mine at Oulton in the rain at BTCC and it's ace. Can say enough good
