Somerset Levels nature reserves info wanted

Hi all

Planning to visit Somerset Levels nature reserves Shapwick Heath (RSPB) and Westhay Moor (Somerset Wildlife Trust) sometime soon - I haven't been there for many years (Westhay Moor wasn't even a nature reserve then....)

Can anyone offer any info on what the various hides are like for photography? I've heard some good things for these two reserves. I'm especially interested in seeing and hopefully photographing Hobbies hunting insects, maybe Bittern activity too, but I'll take anything!

i went 2 weeks ago and just walked around lots of nice birds around didnt get any spectacular shots but it was a great day.

I would also suggest a trip to RSPB Ham Wall, was there this time last year and several Bitterns were booming.

Ham Wall is a great reserve if you fancy meeting up for the day send a PM, it's not very far from me and haven't been since March.

It has in abundance Tufted Duck, Great Crested Grebe, White Egrets and the usual Coots, Moorhens, Herons and Shags.

It's a fantastic day out, plenty to see and lots to photograph.
