Someone interested in my photo

Just wanted to know what is the best way to approach a situation where someone wants to use my photo in a publication. I am not sure if this is an internal publication or public one.

So far they have just express their interest in the photo and I have yet to reply.

Do I give this photo away but still retain rights or try and sell it to them?

Spend two minutes looking through a few threads here and you'll have more answers than you know what to do with, but in essence, it is entirely up to you what you ask for your photo.

What you want to do is sell them a license to use your image for a specific purpose, but retain the copyright over it. You should be able to find an example licensing agreement online somewhere.

There is a price calculator for buying stuff on Alamy that asks a few questions about usage etc - could be useful to get a rough idea on prices.
