My wife works as the network manager in the school just down the road from us and she came home a couple of weeks ago asking if I could do some photos of the various sports teams in the school which could then be sold to the parents for a nominal sum, basically the cost of the print plus about 50p. As the place is strapped for cash I agreed to it and went down there last week for just over an hour, fifteen teams in total and plenty of rowdy kids to sort out, as I finished I said to the teacher that I would get the images to him on disc within a couple of days, all ready for printing. His answer? "Okay" and then he walked off without even a thank you. Ignorant git.

Anyway, yesterday Jan said that he was having problems getting them printed, he was trying to do it on the school laser printer which Jan wasn't too happy about as the ink/toner costs a fortune and it comes out of her budget. To cut a long story short I ordered a 6x4 of each so the kids could decide which ones they wanted, this was done through Photobox and they arrived this morning. Jan took them to the school to give to this teacher along with the receipt for £3.60 (I didn't charge for the P&P as I had another print in the order) and his reaction was "I didn't order these, who's going to pay for them?" No thank you, nothing.

I'm in a good mind to ask for the disc back but it is the kids that lose out as they are now expecting the photos. And to think this is the calibre of person teaching my kids these days. Manners and common courtesy cost b****r all.

Thats bl**dy disgusting mate. Although would have meant one less bottle of wine at the end of year teachers do;) £3.60.....dont they think the smile on the kids face is worth that paultry sum.
Dean:)

There's ignorant - then there's pig ignorant!

Smacks of jealousy to me mate - but clearly an ignorant git.

Could you get the shots on-line and get parents / kids to choose from there? If so, i'd do this and get yhe disc back from Mr Misery.

If I was you; I'd personally enjoy going to speak to him and let him politely know that I’m disgusted in his lack of human interaction skills and, is he only teaching for the money or is their a little part of him that would like to see the kids doing well and enjoying life... if so, where is it that part?

:naughty:

Just goes to show why the youth of today have no manners (ok, so I'm generalising) with teachers as ignorant and rude as this.

Give him a smack in the mouth Colin..

Seriously I hate ignorant pigs like him.:bat:

could you make a public album on photobox and notify the parents and then they can order the prints themselves and maybe make a donation to the school?
you have my sympathy dealing with a cretin like this.
pbh

That's totally out of order, it's unusual too in my experience but I suppose there's always one

Typical of our society today: manners and consideration for others are out the window!!!

I agree, I hate people with common courtesy or thought for others. It's that what is the foundation of all our problems in society today.

If kids were taught to have courtesy manners and thought for other people (from a very young age), then there would be less stabbings, muggings, and general antisocial behaviour all over.

I'd be tempted to go and take the photos back and do the public album thing like someone suggested. I'd also be tempted to tell him about his manners.

Then there is the child protection act crap to go through. All it takes is one little johnny mother to complain and you could have a law suit on your hands. I photograph the air cadets most weeks and in their 3822's (the new ones) theres a little paragraph stating that photographs may be taken of your child. This needs to be signed by parents to allow the publication and negate the possibility of little jonny's mother complaining.

I would actually go an see him. Express my views on how youve been treated and advise him that you are writing a letter of complaint to his superiors. As for a box in the lip, this wouldnt be in your favor at all.

Stay calm, collected and professional.

King.

That is very unusual of male primary teachers - we're a small bunch as it is without people like that around. Normally receipts are shoved into the office where a cheque is produced. So it's not like it was even coming out of his pocket.

We're not ALL rude and ignorant - trust me :D

I know Michael, I know. It's not the fact that he is a teacher (though it doesn't help) it is just his lack of manners that bugs me and it would annoy me no matter what occupation he did. As my grandad used to say many years ago (and then I found out it is the motto of a famous school) "Manners Maketh man", something that has stayed with me all my life.

As I said before Jan is the network manager at the school so there is more than one way to skin a cat. :whistling:

And they wonder why the kids are so bloody rude these days :bang:
I hope it all come right in the end for you, Collin

No need for being ignorant really......

I suppose from the teachers perspective, they get so used to dealing with obnoxious kids and their Chavvy parents, they tend to go onto autopilot when dealing with others.

I bet if all of the kids were A++, polite pupils, you would have got a different response.

Not an excuse, but a possible explanation for his crap behaviour.

"I've run out of space, can I have some more please?"

"How much did you have?"

"20MB

"Okay, you've got 20MB free"

"Wow, another 20MB?, thats so generous, thankyou"

"No"

"wait, but you said...I don't understand......oh"

A lot of teachers seem to have something we call in the business "Teacher Syndrome", its like a self importance thing where they think they are the kings and masters of everyone else who works at a school. We soon sort that out.

Personally, I'd write a letter to the head stating how you'd done a favour for the school and you're unhappy with the treatment you've had, you don't want any recompense but would like to be assured that some form of gratitude would be shown should any further work be done (if you even want to)

And Adam - what on earth do you mean sinking that low? We have to go up a level or two to get there ;) and its job satisfaction too.

  Matt what are you on about. ... Skinning a cat is the bit I'm referring too ...not the job position. ...doh mate. :) I'm sure my English isn't that bad.... could be wrong though. :p :D

Its probably my english thats at fault. I meant as network managers we skin cats and worse on a daily basis, so to deal with this cat we'd have to rise up from a level we'd be at normally.

It sounded funny in my head....honest :p

How rude!!!! I don't tolerate rudeness anymore! I agree with BB, a smack in the chops for that one mate! :bat:

PS: I'll also like to bet that he will take any compliments and well dones as if he'd done all the photos himself too. :annoyed:

Just be pleased that you have done something fab for the kids, I am sure they will appreciate it, those pics are a part of their history and will be treasured for years!

I would probably leave the 3 pound ? on the teachers desk with a note saying. If you cant appreciate a good deed then don't ask me for favors in the future!

Total crap mate.
