Hi,

Hope some peps can help (did a search but couldn’t find what I needed), am possibly looking to get some good Studio Light in the next 6 months (maybe sooner), have been learning how top use studio lights of late, and would like to get some lights that will last me for quite awhile, currently have some basic lights (Linky...), but have already come to the conclusion from using the lights in the studio that they are not up to what I will want, basically what I am looking for are lights that can do full body length shots (maybe even cars etc eventually), I was thinking of getting a decent kit to replace what I have, then use the current kit as Background/Hair lights, have been looking at a few kits and would like some advice on if they are up to what I want, and also any alternatives I have missed, (not sure on budget as will save what is needed when I decide what I want), Links to the kits I am looking at:

Thanks in advance for any help.

Any decent quality lights will have enough power to do full length portrait shots at low ISO settings - cars need a LOT more power though.

Take a look at the Lencarta ElitePro kits and the Lencarta SmartFlash 200 kits - same build quality, the ElitePro have a half stop more power and more adjustment + some extra refinements. Once you've compared them closely I think you'll move away from all the ones you've linked to.

I see you've mentioned saving up - the SmartFlash kits are on special offer at the moment, I think it's only fair to mention that the current price is only temporary and they will be going up again.

Thanks for that Garry, will have a good look at those two (will give me somthing to read on nights), one quick question, what Accessory fiting are these, or do they only use Lencarta accessorys.

I own a professional studio in Birmingham with a Bowens setup and I can’t fault them. We are under an hour’s drive from Oxford so if you have time, pop up to the studio and see then, have a play around with the Bowens lights and see what you think.

Thanks for the kind offer, may well take you up on that once Christmas and new year are out the way (working most of it :shake:), will be a great help for me, will PM you when I know I have some time off and see if it is conveniante for you.

They use the standard Bowens fitting
