Some lens advice please?

Scenario 1) I have my sigma 10-20 lens and my next lens will replace the kit lens, but which one, i've narrowed it down to 2 lenses, the Sigma 18-50 F/2.8 EX DG and the Sigma 24-70 F/2.8 EX DG Macro, the latter being slightly less expensive, what would you choose?

Scenario 2) The lens after the one above i may think about a macro lens, but do i need one? At the moment, i use the 35-80 reversed onto my camera body and get approx 1.8:1 magnification but sharpness can be a bit hit and miss, if i went for say the 100mm Canon macro, would i miss the extra .8 i get on my cheap option?

I'm about to purchase the 18-50. I'm sure there's an HSM version so it'll be very quick to focus, but again, bit more expensive.

I'd pick the 18-50 for the wider focal length as well being able to be fully open throughout the range. From what I've read, it's almost as good as the Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8, which is three times the price!
