Came across an article (don't know if it's been published?) by a photographer Andrew McDonald.
Here's a resume from his myspace page
Now then! My name's Andrew McDonald, I'm a D&AD award nominated photographer from up north. I graduated University in June 2008 with a 2:1 BA in Photographic Media. I am published in many UK music magazines and prior to this year regularly contributed to Rocksound magazine.
The article was discussing photography trends, from the hyper real look, Dave Hill type of shots to HDR, the paragraph on HDR was interesting reading, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a line of praise for Pete
here's the paragraph on HDR
Six months ago I was new to HDR photography and I was fascinated with the look it gave to images, since then I have come to dislike it as it something everyone seems to be having a go at within the industry, both amateur and professional. I have grown to severely dislike HDR photography; as a photographer I feel you retain absolutely zero integrity as an image maker. Whilst it certainly has its uses, It has become an easy and efficient way of putting dog turds through a polishing conveyor and I dont think I want my photography (particularly online) associated with something that anyone can do,in most cases it just adds an interesting aspect to an otherwise average photograph. As with Dave Hill, I like the imagery of those photographers that use it well, such as Peter Carr (vanilladays.com)
And here's the full article if anyone is interested (pdf file), not sure if he was authorised to use one of Pete's images in the article?
