:bat: Here in the land of concrete cows we have several "water courses" the Grand union the Gt Ouse & many many lakes most with foot paths have public access.
( this is not a fishing story so please read on...)
We also have a large ( increasingly so) immigrant population.I won't be too specific for fear of being un-PC but those of you that go fishing will know which ones I mean.
They place nets & multi-hooked lines in the water to catch and remove large quatities of fish for food ( this in itself is ileagle)
When I was a mere pup we had Otters not too far ( walking distance) But as the city grew they quite understably moved further and further away, just recently a pair of Otters have been seen quite locally again, testement to the way the city has "grown" to be environmentally friendly.
One Otter turned up dead in an ileagel fish / crayfish trap recently!
A public flogging is far to good for these scum

that is discusting, i give up with some people these days!

I saw something on TV about this a few weeks ago, its happening in many areas where certain migrants have settled, and the locals are getting a tad tiddled off, understandably. Sorry, but I am really not into fishing, but when otters are turning up dead as well...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :bang:

I would suggest concreting in some posts or POLES along the bank as a warning.....:naughty:

All this along with the shooting of the two hen harriers reported this week. Plus I received this letter from the bird club I am in, requesting me to sign this petition.

The Catalan governmment is trying to push forward legislation that would legalise the hunting of birds using glue, say SEO/BirdLife (BirdLife in Spain). This cruel method is specifically banned by European law because it in non-selective and difficult to adequately control.

In the ‘name of tradition’, the hunters use sound recordings to attract birds, luring them to branches covered in glue. Hundreds of thousands of thrushes migrating from northern Europe are thought to be at risk and will be killed in the Ebro area between October and November - that is unless the new legislations can be stopped.

In the same regulations, the Catalan government is trying also to legalise a form of net-trap hunting called ‘filat’, a technique which traps thirsty birds attracted to small pools of water. The technique is also forbidden in Spain, again because it is non-selective and thought difficult to control. The protection of nature is high on the agenda these days, but the Catalan government which is progressive and ecological, prefers to look back on methods of hunting that harms protected species, said a spokesperson from SEO/BirdLife (BirdLife in Spain).

If you want to sign the petition to protect birds from illegal hunting practices in Spain follow this link: http://www.gepec.org/barraca-i-filat/index_eng.html

You can't blame the people for illegally fishing for food!!!

The fault is clearly ours for not giving them enough in benefits to live on properly in the free homes we gave them - we're just to damn mean in this country

In fact, I'm so ashamed at how badly we're treating unemployed foreigners at the moment, I think we should simply treat them all to a free cruise aboard a nice liner - food etc. all free too to cheer them up...

On their way back to wherever they came from

Xxxxxxx :D

AARGGGHHHHHH... why is it, Europe makes the laws, we, the Brits regularly get hammered by them, whilst every other country seems to completely ignore any that don't 'suit' them!! :bang:

Because our country is run by weak willed, do gooding, apathetic, cheating, swindling, politically correct, morally corrupt idiots.

And thats the other thing about the British we always beat about the bush and never say what we mean :D

I was trying to be polite and provide a structured argument for the lack of interest shown to the indigenous population of this tiny rock.

We wouldn't be in this mess if the party of the people listened to the people it was elected to represent.

The glue they use is called bird lime. I dealt with a case of bird trapping once in liaison with the RSPCA where a ring of low lifers on a large council estate were catching songbirds in their back gardens using this method. The damage birds can do to themselves trying to get free is awful.

Incredibly there was a ready market for these birds.

100% behind you DF!
The laws only seem to appertain to the indigenous not the non-indigenous population.
I would suggest that if they fail to recognise "our courts"
( a usual defence or so I am told) then we can surely oblige them with their own laws ie removal of a hand for theft that should satisfy everyone
going off a slight tangent ( on the news) did you hear the government has apologised to the populace over the amount of immigrant "figures"? there are apperently 300,000 not the previously thought 200,000? the "public services are not coping with this influx so an "amount" of "restriction" will be imposed.

I think "someone" needs to go back to school for a little readin' writin, and more importantly riffmatic!

I've waiting patiently by the letter box for the letter of apology from them for the misuse of my tax monies. I think I've got more chance of seeing t1ts on a fish though. :(

digitalfailure.
i take great exception to the use of the word idiots, in relation to our elected government.
T**TS is a far better word.
if you see said migratory types doing his .SHOP EM TO PLOD. he,ll probably turn up three weeks later.:bang:

Now i can see how these imigrants killing an otter may not be there aim. But killing an endangered bird of prey is just beyond the mark.

I guess your right ( sorry )

They were breaking the law pure and simple by taking the fish ( attempting to take) their actions led to the death of an endangered species It could have been a child swimming / playing in the river (bbrrrr) but they do, That got trapped or snared or multi-hooked, and drowned. They are no better than people taking pot shots at protected birds what ever the genus but seem to think that they have a right to take what ever they want.

I am not disagreeing cobra with what you have stated, but i feel much more passionate about birds of prey. Don't get me wrong otters are amazing and an animal that we should be protecting more. We just need to be making sure that these ********s don't spoil our wildlife and our culture.

Point taken, Dave, there is (only) an estimated population of 750 pairs of hen harriers ( Source RSPB) and and estimated 5x the amount of Otters but we have the wrong type of environment for Harriers here, but an ideal environment for Otters! As soon as they start to re-appear some butt hole kills one!
Now don't get me wrong either, I am also passionate about BOP's
( birds of prey) I am a falconer....
And equally urinated off about both senario's, it just seems worse somehow ( if thats possible) when its right on your
( my) door step

To top it all off, our poll tax is going up next year to help pay for the influx of our foriegn "friends":shake:

i throughly enjoy paying taxes which go towards child benefits for children that dont even live in this country, fills me with a warm feeling that im helping someone else....

or maybe not

Totally agree Cobra, unfortunatley who will enforce the law, can't see the fuzz doing it as never seem to see one these days.

I am a fisherman, during the summer I was fishing (for carp) when three "gentleman" came strolling by and sat on the bank further down.

They must have sat there a good hour waiting until I caught a fish. I caught a carp of aroung 15lbs and as soon as the fish was in the net they were there!

They could not speak a word of English but they had around£10 in change between them and they were trying to buy the fish! When I returned it they became very aggresive! If it had been a kid they were watching would they have taken the money or even worse got a pasting for returning it?

Tim.

I know what you mean, Tim. I don't fish very often, but know several that do, and a not to dissimilar scenario happened, late last year
I guess they thought my mate was alone, but there were a few more just down the bank, suffice to say the non indigenous species got a little damp! Hurray for our side :woot:

I read about this in the MK newspapers, really tragic. :(

I hope they find who did it and :bat: KERBLAM their sorry usless ass

Wow.

I thought this was a great photography website, where people exchange views about photography and related subjects.

Seems I was wrong, and this is really an outlet for the BNP.

Am I really the only person to have read these posts thinking what a lot of xenophonbic nonsense? Please, someone tell me I am not alone.

I wait for the deluge of "Bleeding Heart" type reposts.

Hi Cedarapple, i have just walked in the door and switched on to check my emails, and read this, after a few posts I thought exactly the same as you and thought to post my opinion on the subject and then leave the forum! I thought this was talk photography, not talk racist crap, the person/s who have laid the trap could be of any race!! I don't understand people anymore, and feel i must leave this forum. On most forums out there politics and race and religion are discouraged unless it specifically relates to the subject of the forum, this clearly does not! Where are the moderators here?
Si.

Personally, I'm not the least bit "xenophonbic". I do, however, expect to receive the same privileges as persons of different culture and likewise expect them to have to abide by the same laws as myself. I don't think that is being xenophobic, just fair.

This is also the out of focus section, where we can voice our reasonable opinions within site rules and common decency. If you want to leave because other people have different opinions then its your loss.

Wow.

dont worry, you arent alone.

I decided this time that I'd just let it all go without me joining in against it and getting myself ****ed off.

Hope you guys dont leave the forum, though, as I think its great that people can talk about what they want to even if it is nonsense :)

I dont think British people have a right to say anything about migrants in the UK until we sort out our own disgusting behavior when we are abroad. As for complaining that some of the foreigners cant speak any English, thats a laugh because neither can most English people nowadays (Ileagle???). Brits living abroad dont bother learning the Language they just expect the residents to understand what they are saying/shouting.

Thanks Gary, i shall stay on the forum as its one of the best, i shall just stay away from the off topic stuff.
Si.

FWIW this is more about respect for the country you are residing in and the native population irresepective of race, ethnicity, religion or anything else. True, Polish immigrants catch fish to eat and carry knives everywhere because in Poland that is precisely what they do every day (according to the "respected" media). But the vast majority work damn hard doing jobs "we" don't want to do. Brits abroad do what they do naturally at home - get drunk, pick fights & generally abuse the locals & insult the customs. I read everywhere about the "feral children of satan" we're all breeding in the UK - but of course none of these children are yours are they? It follows that not all British children are feral, nor all immigrants thieving scumbags.
