Soon , as payment for some casual work, I'll have £90 and wondered if it was possible to buy a GOOD solid tripod for this amount? (for a D 40) Or should I forget it and buy some stuff for my airgun? !!

Not sure you should be allowed weapons. :suspect:

Invest in a decent set of tripod legs and you can always improve the "head" later. I would swear by Manfrotto but there are others.

For the D40 you could probably get the decent tripod AND a decent head for your money from Redsnapper if you talk to Joe ...

Clicky the ad linky at the bottom of the Home page for details ... ;)

Shoot lasting stuff from a camera not once only and forget it stuff from a gun ...

:p

Thanks, have Emailed Redsnapper photo. What about a good monopod? I have a Star 63 tripod at the moment (don't laugh!) which is better than other tripods I've had in the past.

Mike G. I have just taken delivery of a Red Snapper tripod and ball head, all for just under £100, including a very nice bag.

Very sturdy and easy to use head. In a word its brilliant :D

i just ordered a slik pro 340DX, should be here in the next day or so

will update as i go

that cost me £80

White and Celery, thanks. I haven't heard back from Redsnapper yet. Keen to hear about both tripods. My cheap one isn't too bad until you start winding the neck up to get that last bit of height. Would you say a sturdy monopod was a lot better than hand held? Suppose it must be. I was daft not to get a 55- 200
lens with that anti shake ability.

There's a tripods test review in this months Digital SLR user magazine - that might help you decide!

Gol darn it! Went out and bought Junes issue! Still, it had a revue of some bipods. Redsnapper haven't replied to my Email.
Stumbled through Redsnappers site and found the Redsnapper Tri 283 at £50.
Anyone know about it?

try emailing him again, he may not have got it.

got mine today, and wow, looks and feels so strong, not had chance to get any pics yet as i literally just opened it

will write a review in the coming days

Thanks Whitey, look forward to hearing. I have contacted Redsnapper again. I'll get there eventually!
Still haven't had a reply from Redsnapper so I'm forgetting them. This is the trouble with living out in the wilds, no camera shops! I'm going to see if there is one in Hereford (50 miles away) .
