I've been wondering for a while, is there any software, that would work with my Nikon D7000 to store the photos I take straight onto my PC, rather than onto an SD card (I would obviously have to have the camera connected to the PC via USB)?

Better yet if it's free, but is there anything out there?

I didn't try googling just now, but I did a while ago when I first thought about it, and there didn't seem to be much info on it, and the only thing I could find, was the software from Nikon for it, wouldn't work (Can't remember exactly, but I think it didn't work on W7)

Tethering is what you are looking for with a Google search.

I've just found this with a quick search.

I've used one of the pieces of software mentioned, DIYPhotobits a few years ago with a D200 and it worked very well. It looks like it has been a bit too popular though as the bandwidth for the site to download it from has been exceeded. Worth checking back for though.

I think LightRoom can tether cameras if you already have that.

If you have lightroom it will work on a d7000 a mate of mine uses it often, I use Nikons camera control pro on a d90 but it will work with ad7000

Anyone tether a Canon to a iPad 2?

Of course you could buy an Eye-Fi card.

Not cheap but great and no wires!

Got mine last weekend and used it in anger on a portrait shoot and it worked perfectly - wires to the laptop would have been very awkward.

Since you use D7000, I'd go with eye-fi. No need for usb cable then. Costs a bit, but worth the price for going wireless IMO.
