Right, i have a canon 350d and i have currently started shooting in raw more often, my problem is that the laptop i am now using doesnt have the canon dpp software on it and i have lost the disc. I have tried asking canon for a copy but i would have to pay, money is spoken for plus im trying to save for elements 8. Currently i have got paintshop pro 9 on here. What is the best way for me to convert my raw files and then go on to edit through paintshop until i can get elements?

All the current software is available for download on the Canon website, the Canon USA version seems more up to date though.

All you need to do is Google how to change the registry settings on your computer to make the software installer think you already have older versions of the software on board.

Also you only need one of the applications on board to allow installation of all the latest software.

So if for instance you have been using Zoom browser you can go straight to the website and download the latest version of DPP and off you go.

thanks for the reply, i was hoping that i wouldnt have to do the registry change, i dare not do it in case of mistakes. Is there any alternative free downloads of raw file converters?

Just create a system restore point before you change anything and "should" something go wrong you simply revert back, it's simple (and pretty safe ;) )

Thanks for the replies, luckily i have not had to anything with registry editing. I was looking through a pile of discs i had got from my mums and dads house, and i found, a canon dv solutions disc with zoombrowser! installed it and then updated to dpp. If only canon had made it easier and supplied a full download.....
