So I have a powerful bike light which I can quite happily poke through into my softbox and then have a large white surface to attract moths. I live in the countryside, so I'm wondering if anyone thinks this is a good idea when the sun goes down?

Of course, once some nice big moths decide to appear on the front of the softbox, I can dim the bike light and then break out the DSLR + macro lens + flashgun.

What do people think? Am I mad?

The aim of the game is to get the shot, what the equipment looks like is wayyyy down the list. Post on here if you get a result.

Did you see Country file tonight, there was a thing about moth photography. It would probably work a treat, softbox might get a bit damp though. Have a look at todays country file on BBC iplayer, it was about 3/4 of the way through at a guess, after the weather.....
