ive been stuck in the house this week with a chest infection so boredom has gotten well hold of me , thought id look at some pics i took last week, this one in particular

jettysmall2.jpg

i wanted to see if i could isolate the pier and get rid of the distractions in the background, photoshop not being my favorite thing i ended up with this

RHos jet LEsmall.jpg

now whilst ive gotten rid of the distractions it is ...well still crap, looks wrong in my opinion and i dont like my horizon and i want to soften the edges of it to see if that helps but for the life of me i cant suss out how to do it , any pointers in the right direction

I think I prefer the first one.

I'm not sure if you can do this in ACR/Photoshop, but I'd use a radial filter, with negative dehaze as a starting point.

so do i to be honest lewis, it was more of an excersise to learn something new, i like a bit of long exposure but this just looks a bit tooo plasticky

Nice pic. Would be interesting if you got rid of the objects in the medium distance (poles, stone jetty) but kept the horizon and sky. Might create the effect you are looking for?

Sorry, I should have read back what I was posting, I missed a crucial "in Lightroom" there. But I don't know if you can do the Lightroom radial/graduated filters in ACR, or if you have something more powerful in Photoshop that would be better to use.
