Softbox & Lighting help

Hi all, I've been doing a bit of light painting recently and figure the only way to get the results I want is to use a softbox, but I'm having trouble finding a continuous light source that would make good use of the softbox which is also portable and not overly expensive, something maybe rechargeable if possible, any help appreciated

Hi,

I am in a similar situation, I found on an American site a dimmable battery LED board. I think searching for this and video in either google or eBay should get you some results.

I did find a how to guide for making your own, again dimmable and battery operated, but or the life of me I can't find it again, I didn't bookmark!

So the idea I have is to get one, strap a softbox to it and ten start painting cars.

I have 2 LED torches that work OK, but I wouldn't have though they would have lit the softbox up properly as they are closed light sources and an open light would utilize the reflective sides on the box?
