Hi all,

Anyone bought one of these from ebay?

Strikes me it could be a pretty cheap and dirty way of the kids at school being able to take better photos of the D&T projects, sculptures, food etc.

Anyone any feedback on these? We'd love to go for Lastolite genuine ones, as I'm sure the quality would be better, but there's no way the school can afford it.

Thanks in advance for any feedback on these!

All the best,
James

I have one and use it with a couple of 5000 Kelvin lights.

I'm VERY much a novice but it seems to work really well.

A couple of shots I've used it for:

Yep I bought one very simlar added a couple of small table spots for about £12 the pair. (homebase or B&Q's can't remember now)
I am happy with the results

I can answer my own question...I have! Just hit buy it now on it. Heck, for £14 if it improves things for the kids then it's a result!

If anyone else has some of these light boxes, I would LOVE to see shots you have got from them.

Cheers,
James

Like cherry and AB already suggested: with 10 quid materials and some elbow grease 'your kids' can have all the light tents, reflectors and diffusors they may need, and/or want: D-I-Y!
You're in a school, for gossakes, so make it a project for 'your kids'!

And save yourself, them, and the school hundreds.

Have fun!

I have that exact tent, it's pretty good.

It actually works very well with a flashgun, just mount the flash (I use a 430EX) on a tripod and angle it at the roof of the tent and it works great! I actually found it worked better than having two lights, one on either side.

Asda do one for £20 looks ok to me

You could just make one. I have and it's soo much cheaper! Look at Strobist.com in the DIY section. Loads of DIY studio/flash stuff in there. Well worth a look

any chance of a link to the DIY section,. I have seen loads of people mention it with regards to making softboxes and the like, in fact I was originaly given the site by a guy in a the photo lab i use.

I have gone on, and for the life of me i cant see the DIY section

I use one for photographing our products (baby clothes).

For lighting, I use 2 Portaflash 336v lights on 1/4 power.

They are ok for the price! Quick and convenient unlike building your own!

Carl.

Type tent into the search box at the top left and hit Search Blog

You'll never get the best possible results from a light tent, but they can produce adequate results.

The Lastolite ones and the cheap Chinese imports are all made in the same factory BTW
