I took some amazing pictures of some
War memorials yesterday. I've come to upload them and my camera won't read my memory card!! It needs formatting and I could cry. Thank goodness I took my snow patrol gig photos off there last week!

Happens to us all, i remember when i lost two weeks worth of holiday photo's once. I tried everything to recover the images from the card, but i was left with just junk.

They may be recoverable - Have you got a card reader ? Worth trying to read them in a card reader rather than the camera. Failing that, a format and some recovery software might also allow you to get them back (provided you don't take more photos once formatted).

Whereabouts are you? You never know someone local may have some recovery software to help you.

Said you camera wont read your MC,have you tried downloading them with a cardreader to your pc ?

I don't have a card reader atm. My dad has one so I'm going to try plugging it in to my computer and seeing if I can access my photos that way. If that fails I will be on the phone to my dad asking if I can borrow his card reader. If that fails I guess I'll jut have to format it and seen If it will work. The pictures I have potentially lost were taken a mile down the road from where I am so I can go and try again if all else fails

similar thing happened to my brother. he used recovery software and got around 95% of photos. I'll find out what he used and let you know.

Thankyou. It would be much appreciated

So get this!
I plugged my camera into my laptop and I can acsess everything but my latest pictures. I have backed every thing up on cd so now I am going to format my SD card and see what happens!

If you were closer or wanted to send the card I have some decent file recovery software.

What brand of card is it? I've tried all sorts and just stick to Sandisk these days

I would see if pluging a card reader into your computer will recover them all :)

I managed to recover all my images but the war memorial ones. I had to format my SD card and then restore my camera to original settings. Now it's fine so when I get an hour I'm going to nip back down and try getting the pics again

Did you use recovery software on the card, or did just plugging it into a card reader allow you to access all the other photos?

If it was the latter, then you may still be able to recover your original photos, even after formatting - as long as you don't take any more photos on the card!

Personally, I would also be wary about shooting on that card again. I had issues with an SD card, and ended up binning it and getting a new one, rather than risk losing photos.

That good, I alway use an card reader, instead of pluging my camera into the computer :)
