We have been looking for a headboard for our bed for a while but we haven't found one we liked, so I decided to have a look and see if I could make one.
Luckily, my cousin has a great man cave with all the right tools in which made the job 100% easier.
Made with 4 x used pallets, a 3 metre fence post, a length of 3x2 pine and a scaffolding floorboard (for the top plinth)
Total cost = £18.00
3 metre 100mm x 100mm fence post cust in half (2 x 1.5 lengths)

After putting them through the thickness planer, mortise cutting the holes for the bottom rail and using a router for the guides for the lats

Bottm rail in and lats on, seated in the routed recesses.

With the lats in place, we moved them about a bit to sort the gaps out and even the colours up a bit. The lats are made from the pallets, prized them off and put them through the planer then sanded them smooth.

The carnage

We then attached the top plinth, made from a planed down scaffolding floorboard. This piece of timber was a little bit twisted but I can live with that given the cost (free lol)

All sanded down with a palm sander and the sharp edges rounded off by hand.

Finished and in situ (still needs oiled and then anchored to the wall to finish it off fully)

Going to make a matching bedside table and bookcase at some point too
New bedding too haha
Pretty chuffed with it for a first go!
