Never used a rangefinder before but thought I would like a play :D
Got some Ilford HP5 400 to go with it - any pointers from you film guys please?

Wind it on immediately! Not sure if you've read the stories about the commy cameras but if you try to adjust the speed before cocking the shutter bad things happen to the springs. Apart from that its a decent enough camera.

Thanks, yes I read that ... I'm wondering how long it will be before I forget

I'm the same, its why I always wind it on other wise....

If no meter, get an iPhone app or similar, been pretty accurate.

I like my old Fed3... so much so I treat it to one of those radioactive lenses complete with the 4lb pig iron lens cap (it's called a fed4;))

Mine did have a little issue with the shutter curtain falling to bits, but nothing a little black latex fabric paint couldn't sort.

Nothing that couldn't be Fixed

I've no photo's of the fix itself, because, well - it's just a plain black shutter curtain again now, I basically just built up a few very thin layers of latex fabric paint with 24 hours drying time between each, until I could no longer see any pinholes of light coming through when I shone a very bright light into the lens cavity.
