This question is more out of curiousity, as most of us do it just for the enjoyment but how do earn people earn from photography? As in, other then doing events etc, how do you get the images printed?

Do you guys literally submit lots of images into publications for usage?

If you can use the camera to take pro images, then it comes down to marklting I guess. Just pimp your abilities

Start with things like Gumtree, Adtrader, and any publications specific to your target audience.

I managed to get a £500 client and I haven't a clue what I am doing with regards to PRO togging. She was happy with the sample images, and the cash is extra pocket money.

In my case, by working for posh estate agents taking shots of peoples houses. I work for a marketing agency. I've had stuff published in papers, magazines (including country life) and the internet.

I got the job by showing them a portfolio of my work and arranging a meeting with the MD of the company. Started out just being let loose on pikey semi's and built a reputation with the agents around bath for quality work. Nowadays I get to do fancy places.

It wouldn't have been my first career choice but It's incredibly hard work to make money out of landscape photography and ultimately I get to meet nice people and make money out of something I enjoy doing.
