I wish I could kick LR3 in the balls, it's just so counter-intuitive when it comes to printing, why does it have to be totally unlike any other program on the planet when it comes to printing?? Why can't I just type in what size I want the print to be and let it get on with it? Is that too much to ask? I've spent 4 hours this afternoon pulling my hair out with the stupid thing.

At the moment my problem is trying to get an image to print out 17" high by 13" wide, it seems to be printing it out at 13" x 13" and cropping the picture in the process.

I have the cell size sliders dragged all the way to the right as I thought that they might be causing it, I don't even know what they are for anyway. The paper size I input as 12.95" wide and 17" high in my R2880 driver and I have ti set as portrait. All these settings would be good enough for any other program i.e. CS4 but not LR it seems.

I am really peed off, I've wasted loads of paper and ink today for nothing. I even tried print out some smaller ones at A4 size to try figure it out but they came out as 8.25" wide by 2" high!

Why can't I just tell LR to print out at a set size just like I can with CS4 without messing about with stupid cell sizes and margins?

Can anyone help please? :'(

Have you got "Lock to photo aspect ratio" ticked?

Check the page set up dialogue. Make sure you've got the correct size paper selected. I've made that mistake and you get some unusual size images.

Also make sure you've the same size paper selected in print settings. ( Yes it does get a bit untidy. However you can save this as a preset once you've got things set up )

lol I find it really really intuitive,

if you're having jip try printing it to a jpeg with custom file dimensions then printing that?

Three years later and LR3 is still a pain in the rear end. My HP print software (10 times better and easier than LR3's printing options) stopped working. If I wasn't in a hurry with needing to get these prints out, I would have tried to find something better.

So I tried LR3 and, my god, it's about as user friendly as a Rottweiler is to a postman and is ridiculously difficult to understand and use - the prints come out looking nothing like what is on the screen.

Whilst the rest of the software is excellent, Adobe really don't understand anything about printing for all levels of experience - time to go back to the class room Adobe and learn about what photographers want and need and how to make it understandable for them.

Apologies for the rant but surely if you make a software suite as good as LR3, you just don't skimp on the printing module? It lets the whole down.

Richard. I am totally au fait with it now. If you need any help get in touch.
