Hi folks,

Next year I'm planning a trip to Snowdonia in May. I'm going to be camping in llyn gwynant but looking to do a little tour of Snowdonia and take photos at various locations.

Never been there so your favorite places will be most welcome :)

Only one thing - must be able to get there by motorbike.

Cheers!
Phil.

There's enough in Snowdonia for a lifetime let alone a holiday.
If the weather is bad try the coast at Barmouth, the Lleyn peninsular or go across to Anglesey.

Nantgwynant itself is stunning! There's a lay-by on the main road above the campsite where EVERYBODY stops to take a snap, but if you climb steeply above it on foot you will get an even better viewpoint. Llyn Dinas just downstream is probably more photogenic than Llyn Gwynant . Go eastwards for Llyn Mymbyr (Capel Curig) which has THE classic view of the Snowdon Horseshoe. Most of these lakeside locations will be better on still days and at dawn.

There are numerous possibilities around Betws-y-coed, mainly waterfalls and wooded gorges so consider these particularly on cloudy days.

The Dolgellau area is fabulous - think Mawddach estuary - but is a bit further south. I agree with the post above. If it is cloudy in the mountains try heading down towards Pwllheli or even further down the Llyn peninsula.

it's an amazing area and will be fabulous in spring!

Ok folks, with the help of many + google maps satellite view & photos, I have managed to put together a pretty comprehensive list of places to go and see/photograph.

Here's my list - let me know if there's any MUST SEE's that I don't have on my list and I may exchange a site since I only have the one day to get most done :)

Llyn Cowlyd

Aber Falls

Brynrefail area

Moel Tryfan slate quarry

Llyn Y Dywarchen reservoir

Afon Llugwy + here as well (same area)

Criccieth Castle

Afon Cwmnantcol

So that's quite a few places but I can probably add 1 or 2 more or swap for better locations...

Hi Phil
You will get some use out of your Camidox stopper there....
Its Gods country, it absolutely oozes locations, i used Kevins map last time i was there.... (Excellent) But if you want to get to some of the stunning locations you will need to hoof it a bit!
Llyn Nantle and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) are a must. Llyn Nantle is just a quick hop over the gate from the road, Snowdon if you are fit and have some proper clothing and gear and in the right weather conditions you can take the llanberis path. If not there is a railway that will take you too the summit. Fairy Glen is also a great place easy access. Cadair Idris and the Glyders are some of my favorite places of mine but it depends of exactly how you mean "must be able to get there by motorbike" and how literally to mean! If your talking hop off the bike and snap, or hop off the bike and walk to a location.
Obviously none of us would recommend you going off the beaten track up there without the proper kit or some experience. (or you have someone with experience with you).

It is truely a fantastic place, and i am sure you will love it! There are a few of the locals that use the site (Like Kevin) that will give you good advice (as he already has, with his Map).
Have a great visit
Cheers
Steve
