Ok here we go.

Been really struggling with ideas for this subject, and looking at the fab pics posted so far I feel a bit out of my depth. I'm hoping that some weeks I will find the subject easier than others.

This is my first attempt at 52 and only been back into togging over the past 6months.

Hope to improve on this one over the year.:eek:

This pic shows my gorgeous little jack russell, she's 7 yrs old, and finds her home in any warm dressing gown or bed, and my god you can't shift her once she's settled.

Aww, she looks lovely and alert. Am hoping that's a blanket, and NOT your dressing gown

Lovely pic and beautiful pup. Not sure you have quite nailed the focus on the eyes though, but it's hard to tell with a small image. It doesn't really matter anyway, it's a charming pic.

Really struggled for ideas and time for this week, but I'm trying to push myself this year and try NEW ideas , yeah I know very tenuous.

I know the subject matter of this isn't all that interesting, but my aim for this pic is to have the effect of numerous seconds hands using a slow shutter speed

Love the first pic made me go awww!!

The second one - cool effect with the second hands! Am wondering though if a clean up of the watch would have improved the shot? I seem a bit drawn to the dust in the top left hand corner - and the flash reflection on the top right.

Also you seem to have cropped closer on the right hand side than the other three which throws it off balance a bit.

I really do like the second hand effect though - might have to try that myself at some stage!!!!

Just had another look, blimey me watch does need a good clean

Love the effect you've captured here, how did you get the second hands to be so distinct at the intervals? Flash? A another poster commented, the dust is distracting but I like the concept.

Thanks for the comments. All I did was a 5 sec shutter speed, and a table lamp next too it, then boosted the colours on the seconds hands in ps.

Week 1, This is a lovely capture, like it.

Week 2, i certainly like the idea and the photo. This certainly does have potential, maybe creating more on the portion of watch where the 2nd hands are etc.

Well Done

Apologies for being late posting these pics for weeks 3 and 4, but work taken up most of time, and I'm determined to get pics in for eack week.

Here's week 3 - Style.

Trying close up photography again, still not sure about this one though.

Week 4 - Open

I interpreted this as an open week, and this pic below was initially taken during summer last year, but wanted to try the model village look, of a small bay on the North East coast.

Thinking head on now for this weeks theme, and feel better now I've caugt up with everyone else.

Not keen on these model village shots, but you have got the effect well. The shot could do with a straighten as the water is sloping!

How do you get this effect?

Hi ya

really like your week 4 photo . Keep going back to look at it as can't decide if it is a model village or not:)
No idea how you've got the effect but I think it works really well

Hi there, and thanks for comments. Originally it's a picture of Runswick Bay on the east coast just before Whitby.

I had a look at various tutorials for the model village effect, I think it's also called tilt and shift effect.

Yeah just had another look at it and should've straightened the shot....b****r!!!

Nice DOF on week 3

Week 4 does need it's horizon straightening, and it's a little too vibrant in colour for me. This is something I would like to try out myself one day, so hopefully it's not too difficult ;)

Week 5. It's "Hard" being little Noah!

This is a pic of my new nephew, Noah, just after he was told that I'd be his godfather. As you can see he's really interested

Aw, how cute it does look like it's hard work staying awake

Bloomin 'eck in danger of getting ahead of myself here ;)

Here's week 6 contribution to Clutter. Or should I say how the missus interpretates the definition of clutter. I see it more as invaluable reference material :naughty::naughty:

Am I on my own with this one, or do others on these forums look forward to Saturday afternoon and the announcement of the next week's theme?

Great shots Simon! I love the shot of little Noah, and your 'Clutter' is very nice! ;)

Oh, and no, you're not on your own. I'm waiting too, especially as I got my this week up very early. But it's Sunday afternoon, isn't it? :p

Hell and damnation....:'( This is a variation of my 'clutter' theme that I've been planning all week...

I'm still at the "buy every photograpjy magazine I see stage!"

Hiya Simon,

Apologies for not getting round to view your Photo52 till now. It has been rather hectic since the start of this project, but I have a bit of time to do a quick catch-up today (although I should be doing other things like de-cluttering the house ).

Week 1: What a cosy looking pic and your JR looks very comfy there. Great use of colours and textures. Also not sure about the focus on the eyes (as already mention) and the only other thing is the light looks a bit OE in the background. But otherwise a lovely photo.

Week 2: Echo the comments already made, and especially like the seconds hand effect. Composition wise, I may have been tempted to go a bit wider to get more of the watch in and maybe positioned the 12 at the top rather than off centre.

Week 3: Hmmm, not sure about this ... it look quite OOF and the slant/angle at which you have taken the shot doesn't really fit well (in my eyes). It is a lovely piece with a lot of colours that you could really bring out, also much detail in the design. Not sure if you cropped this image, but I would have perhaps tried to get a shallower DOF, a bit more base in the foreground, positioned the bracelet with the heart centre, to draw ones eye (kind of like a lead in). So the focus being on the heart and beads either side, with it then gently fading round to the OOF background. What lighting did you use for this? The reason I ask is that the shadow infront of the braclet is a tad distracting. Perhaps at a lower angle this could have compensated that.

Week 4: A technique I need to read up more about as it is one I don't have much knowledge of, but I like what you have tried to create here. I agree about the straighten already mentioned. I like the colours and it looks very bright and sea-sidish. Only crit would be the blue corner bits top left and bottom right of the photo.

Week 5: Little Noah is such a cutie. Indeed he looks very interested, it's a hard life being a baby  This would have worked well for a Week 4 image with his mouth wide open. Portraits is another technique I have to yet master, so unfortunately can't offer much technical crit, but I think you have captured a lovely image.

Week 6: Nice DOF, composition and use of colours. The only minor bug for me is the bit of open space on the right which is reflecting light. I think if you had put another magazine there it would have difused it. Great take on the theme though and see your mags have more than one use :D

Well done on a great start to your Photo52 and now that I have your thread tagged I will be able to keep up with your posts.

BTW, you are not alone on the waiting in anticipation for the release of the new theme (sad I know but it is the hightlight of my weekend ). Having got my week 6 posted on Monday I was wondering what I was going to do the rest of the week, but luckly I had chance to catch up with my 365 processing and try a few different techniques which help with any withdrawls I may have experience otherwise :D

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Dawn. Thanks for your comments.

This is what I love about posting pics on here, peeps are brilliant at offering real detail critique. This is how we all improve in this wonderful craft.

I might try a 365 next year, I'm still stressing at doing a 52 at the moment he he.
