You could do what I did an just make one. Some cardboard and gaffer tape does the same job, I added some black straws to mine too...

Black straws?? Was that for grid effect?
Do you think it would be beneficial for the type of shot above?

A snoot will control your light spill and if you mount a stack of straws in the end of the snoot it will feather the edge of the light more than just a snoot - the longer the straw, the more the feather.

Kept me quiet for a night making them and I couldn't find any black ones so had to spray 'em black - Would love to know where Flash got his supply of black ones from?

Thanks Welly - I never think to use ebay for stuff like that :bonk:

I'll get some ordered - something to do in front of the fire on a cold winters night.

i made a snoot from cardboard and straws too, it works a treat!!..

If I was paying for it I would make one..
Do you think it would work well on type of shot I will be taking?

You can try it for next to nothing with a cereal box and straws for a quick and dirty shoot - If you don't like it you've lost very little apart from eating a weeks worth of weetabix in 2 days and on the plus side you'll be very regular for a while

It's a very different light but its interesting and gave me a load of new ideas of how to light stuff however my grids keep 'shedding' black paint in my bag so I'd do the sensible thing and get the black sraws first time round rather than spraying them black.

I like doing strobist stuff on occasion and keep looking at the Strobist DVDs flash has up for sale-I may yet have to take them off his hands if he still has them.

You can get A4 sheets of hobby foam from Hobbycraft for 50p - makes a perfect snoot and doesn't fall to bits and for 50p a pop you can have a few different lengths too - the length of the snoot controls how tight the light throw is.

;)Cheers mate..think I may well make one quickly to see if it works for me then if it gives desired results whack it on the xmas list..:D

You're not the only one crying....I paid full price for them

Well worth getting though, even just for the little tips and tricks.....and to see DH accidentally drop his work's D2X and 80-200 into a swimming pool
