Welcome to TP and the 2016 52, have fun and enjoy it, looking forward to seeing your photos

Week 1 - Metal
I live on the 10th floor in a block of flats. We are now in January and I have yet to put the heating on but always have my fan on! I'm putting that down to me living so high up and heat rises. Thought this would be apt for my first photo.

Thank you very much. No idea if I'm doing things right with the linky and size of picture etc but it's all a big learning curve :)

Looks like you are doing everything right. Nice take on the theme, interesting perspective, well done

I like the abstract nature of the photo, however it looks very soft to me, but that might be because the focus point is the inside bit. I am honestly not sure how you can control the focus on an iPhone. It would also work if the cage bit was more out of focus so it didn't draw the eye so much.

Good luck with your 52 [emoji3]

Welcome to 52's.

That's an unusual view point for a fan, which makes an interesting shot. I find lots of white in a shot fairly difficult but you have done well. Nice to have a bit of back story to the shot as well.

Hope you continue to enjoy doing the 52.

nice photo and the expaination helps. I like this as its a nice light colour and says that a soft breeze is to be blown,
Good lucking completing your 52

I couldn't see for looking. Someone pass me some glasses
:D

Actually though its a valid point there are still a few not linking to their threads,
and as you say, they'll get more response if they do.
I fix 'em as I find 'em, but its easier if they do their own at the time ;)

Nice abstract and well themed of course. Good luck with TP52 2016.

Yup, nice abstract. I'd have been tempted to focus on the front and use a very shallow depth of field to throw the BG out of focus.

Good start.

Cheers.

I like the idea of the fan for the theme. I admire you taking photos with a phone. I'm quite new here so won't go into any technical details (leave that to more experienced people) - good luck with the challenge

"Sniggle" - great name. Welcome to TP Sniggle.

Super opening shot, and I love the story. (10th story? - Oh dear! :D) You will get used to it... Hopefully.

I like it, interesting perspective as said before. Would have been improved with the point of focus being to front of the shot, but I understand the limitations with your camera that would make that difficult to achieve.

Hi Sniggle

Saw this yesterday and didn't know what to think ... a bit soft and pale, but it's a grower. :)

Aww bless, he looks so sad. His (or hers) eye looks very soft as it's taken with a phone it probably quite difficult but always aim for the eyes to be in focus. :)

Good idea for the theme, not sure how you crop a photo on a phone but cropping it down to the bars may give it even more impact

The revised version is much better - great advice from Andy and Chris. Lovely shot for the theme - you're so lucky to have access to such willing models.
