Evening all, just thinking about incorporating flares/smoke bombs into some of my portrait/wedding shoots and wanted any advice on the best places to buy from in the UK. Already looked at Enola Gaye as I've come across those in paintball, but is there anything else? Also, can't work out if they are cool burning or not.

Thanks :)

I thought the coloured smoke seen in images was the little capsules that chimney sweeps use to check your flue is clear and then they are light painted with coloured lights?

The little capsules for checking flues are pretty noxious and don't make a lot of smoke outdoors.

I've used Enola Gaye from an airsoft supplier, I think it was Leeds Airsoft. They have some which make a LOT of smoke and some which don't make so much, and come in a variety of colours. They don't burn cool and make a lot of sparks when first lit but if you were brave you could hand-hold them - we tend to use appropriate gloves for protection.

Smoke is exceedingly unpredictable stuff and you'll probably need at least one assistant. I reckon they're usable for portrait shoots where you have plenty of time to pfaff, less so for a wedding.

I think I've posted this link before.. a blog post on my first experience with smoke bombs:
